Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

From memory this is a Daimler version. The M.A.N version's only had the steel wheel on the last station however, i am open to correction. Mccoy is the man needed here or Hagen, they are the panther men i only know it is KG Peiper or LAH as i model them occaisonally

Fair enough, we'll wait for either or both to weigh in on this one.

Perhaps someone also can fill in the blanks on this one. No information whatsoever, but I loved the pic...

This photo was taken by the war reporter Hermann and was captioned "Goldap is once again in German hands. In an energetic attack, German armored formations have torn the East Prussian city of Goldap from the Soviets."

Information I have not yet been able to cross reference attributes this particular vehicle to Kampfgruppe Peiper during the Ardennes offensive and photographed near the village of La Gleize.

Can anyone confirm or dispel this?

Great photo! I've never seen this one before. I didn't catch the one standard road wheel at first. Shows one of the problems with only building 24 of something, not any spare parts!

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

If you look closely you can see the last steel wheel is differnt to the other steel wheel's. The last one looks like it has a solid centre unlike the other centre's

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

The more I look at it the more I'm thinking it was a case of "will this fit"?

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

Was this Panther knocked out by planes?? The reason I ask is that while not having a muzzle bag on, the main gun is in it's travel lock, which suggests to me anyway the crew felt safe from any immediate combat.

@LAH
Now we have a Steel Wheel with three different types of road wheels. Kill rings also. A very different and interesting photo.
