Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

The first few Ausf. A didn't have the kugelblende for the machinegun n' had the same flaplike port on the front glacis for the machinegun as the Ausf. D.

Could be a field repair. The turret ring is the same so any Ausf. turret will fit on any chassis with perhaps some minor modification.

Re: Growl of the Panther Tank

The Ausf. D n' Ausf. A shared the same hull. All D's had the odd flaphatch for the MG in the front glacis n' a few of the first A's had the same solution. All Ausf. A's had zimmerit. The turret seems to belong to an Ausf. A considerin' the cupola n' the abscense of the pistolport. Plus the fact that it's not the right tracks for a Ausf. D but the tracks can easy have been replaced with newer ones sometime along the way.

I think you're right. Perhaps one of Skorzeny's Panthers in the Battle of the Bulge? Not disguised as well as the M-10 look alikes that are generally shown in pics?
