It was just another case of: "We have this 88 and we have this chassis. Hey, lets put them together".

Probably late war when the standing order was make use of what you have, because there will no more new stuff coming. The usual tow vehicles for these guns were at a premium and captured damaged Russian gear was plentiful.

yeh true but really effective virtually a cross breed tiger a chassis that can go any where without drama and the firepower of the 88
