Heer troops rolling recently filled fuels drums, note the over spill falling from the drum

Civilian workers loading munitions into box cars
These may have been foreign workers, note what appears to be wooden shoes on the one man

These photos are great. Each one tells a story of some kind. Sad that there is no real info, but that diminishes their value (to one like me) only a little.

I wish they had more info as well, but it is kind of fun trying to figure out some of it on your own.

Sentry duty, cold and lonely

A group portrait posed as hay is unloaded for the unit's horses

These photographs were marked "Ost" in pencil on the back of each.

To Stalingrad

No mystery to this photo. Members of the 1st Infantry Signal Platoon of the 164th Div. heading to Stalingrad August 6th, 1942 by way of Kaukasus.

I'd guess that it was to the Caucasus Mountains (?after or by way of Stalingrad) as the plan for the 1942 Summer Offensive Case Blue or Fall Blau) was to take the oil rich Caucasus region. Stalingrad was not really the main objective.

German, and what could be Italian troops, loading supplies on the Eastern Front

More great photos. The bottom one appears to be of two weary men. If they are heading home for some R&R it looks well needed. If they are heading back to their units they don't appear too happy about it.

Those could possibly be "Hiwis" loading that train...Many Hiwis were put in Manual labor positions to facilitate German manpower going to combat jobs. They wore whatever uniforms that were tossed at them. Two appear to be wearing Russian Greatcoats.

Those don't look like Russian great coats.
