![]() The crew of armored train number 24 stand in formation for review. This particular armored train saw action in the Balkans from 1941-43, then in Italy and then France in 1944. On Jan. 16 1945, after serving four months on the Eastern Front, it was destroyed by it own crew after being surrounded by Russian troops near Konskie, Poland. ![]() A wounded Panzer officer supervises Heer troops on an armored platform car A captured French tank has been put to use on the preceding car

![]() Zeppelin This Panzertriebwagen was the forerunner of self propelled armored train cars used by the Germans throughout the war. ![]() Side view of the Zeppelin Dubbed "Zeppelin" by its crew, it was built in the early stages of the war on the Eastern Front as a field manufacturer, constructed out of scrap metal and a collection of spare parts.

![]() ![]() The two above photos are alleged to be of the "Zeppelin" crew engaged in anti-partisan action along a stretch of rail line in Russia. However, because that would have required the photographer to exit the armored train first and move to two different positions under fire; and that these photos appeared in a propaganda magazine called "Die Wehrmacht", I suspect they were in fact staged.
