Post Identify this tank

Is the following tank an M3A1 like it says? Or is it an M5 like I think it is. The shape of the hull, in my opinion, makes it an M5.

I use it as my avatar, and as I begun to look at it, I thought, that's an M5.

I'd say that it's an early M5.

Question Re: Identify this tank

Well, this time I have another unidentified tank. This one is a tank destroyer. I think it might be a Hetzer, but I don't know.

Re: Identify this tank

Das ist ein Panzerjäger 38(t).

Incorrectly known here as a Hetzer.

Question Re: Identify this tank

What do you meadn incorrectly identified as "Hetzer" I do believe that is what the Panzerjaeger 38t is called, is it not.

Re: Identify this tank

It's true! The Sd.Kfz.138/2 Panzerjäger 38(t) wasn't officially named Hetzer as that name was listed for the Entwicklung E-10 that was on paper.

Talking Re: Identify this tank

Yeah, but the other one that is identified as a Panzerjaeger 38t has the same wheel. The mantlet is different, I'll give you that, but it could be early production vs later production.

Re: Identify this tank

fair enough if you look in last photo that was posted you will notice that the rear idler is concave with roughly 8 large holes that are recessed this signifies a later production version of the hetzer the rear idler in the 1 st photo is slighlty concave and has 12 smaller holes which identify this hetzer as a first production run some the first production run were given to the swedes
