True Colors?

Just exchanged PMs with LAH over this, he thinks I should post these for discussion and I think his reasons are sound.

A buddy sent me some color panzer pics via email. He seems to think they have been colorized from black and white photos. After looking at them I sort of feel the same.

Like to see what you guys think, and if they have been colorized, hear how you feel about it.

Re: True Colors?

cyberia great post the first one has definately been touched up however it does attempt to correctly how the camoflage used buy this battalion. the second photo im almost tempted to say is real mate the colours are all the same shade unlike the first photo. that is a nice photo a very early tiger 1 (that would be an initial production tiger) showing the dark grey colour used on german armoured vehicles thumbs up cyberia mate

Re: True Colors?

I agree on the Command Ausf. G Panther 'cos that's clearly a colorized one. The Tiger I on the other hand looks like the real deal but the background looks odd on it.

Re: True Colors?

My feelings were on line with the consensus before I read it.

The Panther really looks colorized, though it was done well. The Tiger looks legit, but there is something that feels a little off with the background. Not having been there, that just looks like odd coloring.

Re: True Colors?

Aye, the backgrounds in both seemed odd to me as well. The Panther I was almost sure of and my thoughts on the Tiger were same as you guys.
Accurate colors or not, I'm just not sure how I feel about this.

Here's two more...

Re: True Colors?

Those both look legit to me. Don't know why, but they do.

Well, the Panther has to be real. Who could colorize an ambush pattern properly!!

Re: True Colors?

There are two dots, one on the mantlet and another on the hull blister that just don't seem right. Or am I nitpicking here?

Re: True Colors?

I'm gonna call 'kosher' on that one, based on shading and shadows. Look at the shadow by his left hip. From his arm, I think.

Re: True Colors?

I'd say that they do look like the Real McCoy to me...
