I've been waiting to see this fellow on the site at some time. And here he is. As far as I know, this is a pretty famous image that is one of maybe five lifted from a newsreel about the Ardennes Offensive (The Battle of the Bulge). There's at least one of him eating something, possibly chocolate 'liberated' from an ambushed US supply column. Many pics from that battle show German troops with American cigarettes, chocolate, M1 Carbines and waterproof ponchos among other things.
When I first saw the pictures of this man, I felt like I knew him, or that he was familiar which of course, is absurd. I wonder if anybody here knows anything about him. The look on his face in this shot breaks my heart.

Quite right, Geek. One of those iconic photographs of WWII that have made the rounds of magazines for decades and the net since its inception.
To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a name put to this face. I doubt there are names that can be linked to most of the faces in this thread. Yet they still manage to reach out from the past to wordlessly speak volumes.
