Re: Kunihito's Elefant

Yeah, that's really nice. I was having a problem with the red-brown he used but I suspected that the weathering might tone it down a bit...and it did. I have a bit of an issue with red-browns as used by many modellers...maybe it's just me. I hardly ever use it preferring just green over dunkelgelb. Tamiya's colour is awful but some verge on purple to my eye...more at home on a FW190 D-9 as 'braunviolet'. I believe that colour is subjective to an extent and we all perceive colours slightly differently. Never having seen WW2 Period German armour when it was being used it's a tough call. I do however quite like Humbrol's red brown. I don't know the number off the top of my head though. Cheers Razor...looking forward to the next.
Peace.

It could be Humbrol #160 German Camo Red Brown! It's at least my favourite for the German camo.

Re: Kunihito's Elefant

Maybe.

....when he asked; 'Could his men be withdrawn?' And the Generals gave thanks, that the other ranks held back the enemy tanks for a while. and the Anzio bridgehead was held for the price of a few hundred ordinary lives.
Excellent sig. McCoy.

Thanks Geek! Waters is a genious when it comes to agonizing n' black lyrics. Too bad he don't get along with Gilmour who's possible one of the worlds top 10 guitarists.

It does look purple to some extent, perhaps it was what it was thinned with on the original? Petrol perhaps?

It does look purpleish, I always preferred my rot-braun to "mix out" some where between terra-cotta and a 'pinkish' earth brown. Perhaps he made that purpleish rotbraun to simulate "thinning with petrol gone wrong."

Re: Kunihito's Elefant

Oh, I'm not saying it's wrong...just sayin' I didn't like it. Far as I'm concerned, there IS no wrong. I hear that there was actually quite a variation of hues dependent on what it was thinned with, how it was applied, sun fading etc. As far as I understand, the pigment was supplied as a block or in paste form for thinning either with water or petrol. In my books (not many admittedly), there even quite a variance in the tones of the black and white pics that surely indicate a colour variance.

Geek if I could... I'd hug you through the net... lol first modeller outside of me and my dad that understands fading, materials, just plain s*** happens to paint!

Now if I could only get the "stitch-nazis" in reenacting to realize that about gear color....

But no world can be perfect
