Kunihito's Jagdpanther Ausf. G2

Looks like a Tamiya model judging by the styrene color.

Completion date on this build was May 9, 2006.

Well the fact this guy likes to take pics of every step means its for sale or
already sold.

Re: Kunihito's Jagdpanther Ausf. G2

I wonder what he's up to. I've never built the vehicle at all so I don't know if he's 'correcting' it by replacing the rear plate. Keep 'em coming Dave. And thanks again...I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I appreciate the time you take.
Peace.

Re: Kunihito's Jagdpanther Ausf. G2

Here's the next set of photos.

Maybe he felt that the rear plate was too thick?

You know now that I think about it, his redbrown camo colour is very similair to the red-oxide primer used on AFV interiors. I had heard that oxide was used when stores of red-brown became unavailable. Makes sense to me.

I've got the 1/35th scale Tamiya JagdPanther but it didn't have all that interior.

Yeah, that rear plate was a puzzler to me, as well.

Re: Kunihito's Jagdpanther Ausf. G2

I wonder if the kit's rear plate had the hatch moulded closed? The interior, which is amazing, looks largely scratch-built (what else?) to me. You'd want the rear hatch open so it could be seen to best advantage. Looks cool huh?
I've read the same stuff about the oxide replacing red-brown paint as well. But only in modeller magazines and they're, well, about modelling. My knowledge of the history of the armour of the period is pretty basic so I remain open minded. Modellers don't always make good historians.
Anyone know of a manufacturer who makes the red oxide colour 'out of the tin'?

Here's the next set of pics - nothing like a little homemade weld-bead detail Huh?:

And some pretty fair hatch detail:

I'm REALLY starting to dislike this guy.
Those weld beads are just exquisite huh?
