Newest Shige Panther

I must admit, that circle camo on the skirt is getting a bit old but this model and groundwork still Kick's Butt! It's dated April 12, 2008. This Guy really cranks 'em out huh?

Re: Newest Shige Panther

He sure does. This style of camo is relatively new to me so the novelty value still applies. Thanks Dave.

Yeah, I can't say I've ever seen that pattern on the skirt!

Re: Newest Shige Panther

I've seen it before on other modells of Panther II n' some other '46 kits. I didn't like it then n' I don't like it now. Plus the fact that I've never seen any real photos of that pattern.

Re: Newest Shige Panther

I have seen that pattern but only in one photo...funnily enough, I think it's a photo of the vehicle depicted by this model. When I first saw the diorama I recognized the vehicle and the photo is in 'Panzer Colours' by Squadron Signal. I'm pretty certain that others here have the volume I mean. I think it's volume two. The camo on the skirts is different to the rest of the vehicle and I'm not sure if it suggests that the skirts were taken from a different tank or even fabricated at a different factory...who knows? The interesting thing for me is how differently the modeller here and the authours of the book have interpreted a single, pretty bad quality photo.
Peace.

Re: Newest Shige Panther

Funny you mentioned that, on reference books...I saw a bunch of modeler's books at the show back a couple weekends ago, and I kept on walking.....not ready to see my wallet open up to that yet!

yes i do know the volume you mean mate and you are correct there is only the one photo of this vehicle but its not real clear. nice interpretation of the photo though interestingly enough this vehicle belonged to herman goring division and is supposed to be still around all be it stored in bovington tank museum repainted in the original scheme

Re: Newest Shige Panther

I'd be interested to see the original paint scheme given the colour interpretation in the book we're talking about...very different to the model above in my opinion. The colour drwing in the book makes it look more 'modern' in some ways to me. Maybe even a little 'NATO'.

Re: Newest Shige Panther

The third B/W photo is the only one I've seen before.
It certainly looks like the vehicle has been repainted (if it's the same vehicle) as it stands in Bovington.
