River crossing complete after 60 years by Jonas Dahlberg

It's time again for yet another of my fellow countryman Jonas Dahlbergs great dioramas. This time it's a modern setting with an old tank. His diorama this time is a snapshot of the lifting of a KV-1 tank from the river Neva that sunk when it due to German shelling slipped over the edge on the pontoonbarge that was ferrying it over the river during the fight for the Nevskij bridgehead. The scene captures the lifting in 2003 of the old tank.

More information 'bout the lifting operation as well as pictures of the operation can be seen at this site:

Nevskij*Bridge-head > Tank KV-1 1

Great detail. Do you know what he used for the water?

That linked site has great photos. Well worth a visit.

There is a product out called E-Z Water by woodland scenics. They are crystals that you heat up in a spoon or tin pan depending how much you need. I have some and it works quite well.I still have some experimenting to do though.
But for the spoon part...Don't use a good one that your wife might get upset about.
