Dr. Shige's Afrikakorps MkIV Ausf.E

Hope I haven't posted this one here before fellas. If I have, let me know and I'll remove it. It' getting increasingly harder to come up with "New Shige Stuff" - as you can imagine!

Never seen this before Dave so thanks for posting it. It's the same kit I'm working on right now. There are those who will say this is over weathered but I like it a lot. Inspiration for me.

I really like that odd shade of "Pea Green" he constantly uses on his Afrika stuff. His colours really "Make" about 75% of each presentation, I think. Nice work on his figures in this one too.

A nice grotty, faded Panzer IV. Well worked up and plenty of detail on the kit. It looks like a real survivor.

Dave, I really like this one! It pushes the boundries, but that's a good thing. I'm finding I'm really into the Afrika Korps lately, for some reason. Good timing, Mate!

Re: Dr. Shige's Afrikakorps MkIV Ausf.E

This kit is a gem mate. It even comes with a figure of Heinz Guderian and a vinyl cactus...yep, that's right. Just what we all needed eh? There are three DAK marking options and three Eastern Front. Two hull tubs, one with and one without extra armour. Two entire sets of tools, one set has clamps moulded on, the other doesn't in case you want to use the PE clamps which are provided. Two sets of fenders, one set has holes for the moulded on tool clamps, the other is flat for use with PE clamps. There's always the choice between simple 'tamiya-esque' building or more complicated PE use. I've gone for a mix on mine. Where I have tools missing, I have the PE clamps in place. They seem a little big for the scale but they still impart a level of busyness and detail that I like. The great thing about Dragon '3-in-1' kits is that in the box one gets a model and a spares box all in one hit. Very good value for money I think. Instructions aren't great though. Dragon even provide a jig to assemble the top run of tracks with the correct sag and the completed model has workable suspension.

Wow, this sounds like a beast to build, Mate! I take it from your description that it is indeed a Dragon kit? Man, the Guerian fig is worth it alone for me!!! You doing your's as Afrika Korps?

I am. This is the same kit I'm 'reviewing' in the other thread. If you want, I'd be happy to send you my Guderian figure. I'll never use him. I'll throw in the vinyl cactus too because you're my mate.

Re: Dr. Shige's Afrikakorps MkIV Ausf.E

It's a 45 mate. I can't believe you've never heard of 'Cactus' either. They're Melbourne's favourite sons after their meteoric rise to fame, fortune and professional acclaim in the heady mix of 1980's New Romantic scene centred around Frankston. After their drummer 'Simmo' lost his left ear while unfolding a banana-lounge, their sound was never the same. Keep an ear out for their 1982 evergreen 'Boo-Hoo I Have Angst' at the supermarket.
