Definitely Shep Paine. Long before the days of PE and resin he was fabricating and scratchbuilding what he couldn't buy. My favorite is his crashed B-17G. He even painted original nose art for it and put the same art on the backs of the crewmen's leather jackets. At 1/48th scale!!
