Attempt at figures

Heres an attempt at doing up a figure, Its a 1/35 Tamiya German soldier. pretty generic.

It was fun, but these things are a lot of work. I still gawk when I see a dio full of figures, as well as two really well built AFVs or something. Time-consuming.

Well crap I just realized i forgot to paint the helmet straps...

Re: Attempt at figures

Not bad mate. Although Tamiya figures are starting to look a little staid these days, compared to what's available. There's a guy at my club who's a master with figures and I asked him how he works. His explanation still boggles my mind. Lots to learn.
Peace.

Re: Attempt at figures

Actually, that's not a bad figure to start with. That was one of Tamiya's original sets, and the quality wasn't all that hot. Their later kits are greatly improved!!

I figured he was a Gebirgsjäger. The way he was climbing that hill, he has to be a Bergführer!! LOL!!

Re: Attempt at figures

The old Tamiya figures make good practice.

I believe that is Tamyia's first kit. An oldy but a goody.

Karl, a thin wash and some drybrushing will really make the details pop out on the figure. Otherwise you have a great start. Figure painting requires a steady hand, good eyesight, and a strong neck

Nice work Karl. I'm glad you posted it for us to see and comment as everyone likes to help with this sort of thing. As Freight said a wash and some dry brushing will add a lot.

My neck is ok I just can't really see what's in front of it very well these days.

One of these days I'll invent a device I can place under my chin to brace my neck when doing figures. I already have a bad neck so doing 2-3 figures a night really gets to me.

Re: Attempt at figures

I'm thinking that if you go to any medical supply store, you can pick up a basic neck brace that will do the job for you! Padded, even!

I can just see it now. All his old unwanted decals, and cut outs of box art decorating the brace...
