3rd SS Aufklarungs Bttln. Russia - June, 1941

The Figure is Italeri and is stock except for the aluminum foil Kar98k rifle sling.

The BMW R75 is Tamiya and I have added clutch/brake/throttle cables, spark plug wires and fuel lines- all made from 2lb. monofilament fishing line. The shifting linkage is made out of stretched sprue and the clutch / brake handles are made from shaved sheet styrene. Speedometer/Tach. and BMW emblem were painted.

The groundwork is a combination of Woodland Scenics, celluclay and broomstraw from an ornamental broom.

Re: 3rd SS Aufklarungs Bttln. Russia - June, 1941

Excellent job on that bike, i would've been too lazy to do the cables. But
it really adds alot to it. I used to be a real big fan of celluclay, but it
shrink big time, even years later. I should show some of mine now and how
they look.

I've using mudd lately, i havn't perfected it yet, too smooth, and not sure
just how fragile it is?

The detail on the bike is great. I agree that the cables really add to it.

Ya, not a lot of liquid....you've heard me say that before...sorry but I should be getting residuals from the celluclay folks.....I love that stuff!

Geez, I've never done the wiring and cables on those bikes, either. Guess I need to correct myself, eh?

Just proof in point that no matter how much you detail something you can always come back and find something inadequate...although with the addition of the cables and lines it looked 100% correct at the time I built it.....

Look at those spokes.....pretty sucky huh? Guess I should cut out the old ones, get out the pin-vise drill and drill out the rims and the hubs and install extra-fine brass rod for spokes, Oh yeah...and valve stems...don't see any valve stems. Or...I'm sure that someone makes an aftermarket set of wheels for this kit by now anyway....the day of the scratchbuilder is waning fast.

I'll go to my room now,
