Willy's 4x4 JEEP

This is my second modell and it was a little gem to build. I didn't weather it as I at the time had some loose plans 'bout using it in a diorama. It's my first ever figure in 1:35 and as you clearly can see it's one of my really weak points as a builder. I'd learn one other thing afterwards n' that's how to apply decals as I realy had problems with the decals on the JEEP. My misstake was tryin' to apply the waterslide decals on a flatpainted surface with exstensive silvering as a "added" bonus and now two years later the decals have dryed n' cracked as the've lifted themselfs from the surface. Clearly a lesson learned.

Re: Willy's 4x4 JEEP

I've seen tbis one in the hobby shop...I wish there was a version with the machine gun mounted in the back...I'd love to do a Rat Patrol version! So how'd you fix the decal problem on your following builds? Over gloss or enamel?

I don't understand why you think its "weak". Some weather and it will look fine. You have good eye for detail.

You know, I really miss the little jeep. The advent of the Humvee spelled the end to the little dynamo. There were still some on an Army base I worked on back in the early 90's, then I would only see them at Guard and Reserve depots. Now, I only see them in parades!

Well, the JEEP was one of the three machines that won WWII for the allies.

It's amazing how tough the little guy was, and a lot cheaper than a Humvee!

3? If I remember correctly, Ike said the 4 most important machines to
Allied victory in NW Europe was the Jeep, 2 1/2 ton truck, bulldozer &
the C-47 (ironically, none was mainly a combat vehicle).

Churchill would probably have said the LST (I believe he said something
like "Who would believe the destinies of 2 great empires would depend
on some goddamn LSTs).

& am sure you could list dozens if not 100s of more vital machines.
