Old kit help? - Page 3

I Agree Nick......I saw one online and it looks real shoddy. Those old vinyl tubes used to roll up on the transport bogies....I beleive it was supposed to be the cable that lowered the gun off the Transport bogies???

Anyone remember the Deluxe 88 set Tamiya put out back in the 70's? The one that had the 88 and bogies, 88 crew, Zündapp and rider(standing, in greatcoat) Sdkfz 7 with driver, co-driver and about 8 very stiff passengers?
I got it for Christmas in 1978 and it took me the rest of the winter to build all that stuff! I even Motorized the Sdkfz 7 (It came with motor and all the running gear was funtional, even the steering wheel turned in the one I did...after I jury rigged it to do so!) That kit was Tamiya crown jewel for a while....wish I still had it......(My mom knocked the entire set up off my shelf while cleaning...I was able to repair the gun and bogies......but the 1/2 track didnt fair so well)

I remember it but I never built it. I just had the old 88 with the motorcycle and the old crew figures. It was pretty good for its day I thought. I remember the Sdkfz. 7 as a seperate kit though I've never built one. Those 'stiff passengers' were just the same figure punched out 8 times huh? I dithered about buying the 'new' 88 but when I saw it had the Zündapp I had to buy it. I REALLY wish Tamiya would retool both that and the BMW with sidecar kits. Excellent little kits as they were and make great 'short' projects. Lots of diorama/vignette possibilities.

How hard are the motorcycles to build? For some reson, they just seem challenging to me. And how was the barrel on the 88? From what I've read on problems with armor barrels, I wonder about some of these bigger guns!

M/C's aren't so bad. Not much too them or much to add. Brake lines and spark plug wires is about it.

The barrel was straight on mine, the seam just like any other except you don't have to futz with a muzzle brake.

These M/Cs end up being about four inches long and there isn't a lot to 'em. They're maybe a dozen parts. As Freight said, you can add brake lines and clutch cables etc and it does wonders. They cylinder banks can be an added dimension because they're quite prominent...making them look like metal.

Thanx mate, Yeah i want to build a hypothetical Messerschmitt Me-364B-1 Gunship. The history of this hypothetical aircraft is that Britain has been invaded and Germany has put into production the Messerschmitt Me-364A the German Built A.V Roe Lancaster, this version is the Messerschmitt Me-364B-1 Gunship/Heavy Bomber Interceptor.

I have come up with some specs on the actual aircraft. If it is within the rules i will write up the specs and put them here for study.

I have a roll of thin wire, no idea of the guage. Electrical wire from small electronic items works well also.

The problem is finding the model, also i have to track down four Supermarine Spitfire XXII cowls for the engines, and a bevy of 1/48th Scale German 20mm cannons.
