Em, for brake lines I'd try stretched sprue (of course) but I'm pretty handy at getting whatever thickness I need...it's pretty easy but takes some experimentation. You might even consider human hair. Perhaps your wife might have long enough locks? Hair is nice and flexible and doesn't kink.

Nah, sprue is pretty easy to work with I've found.

You can also bend the stretched sprue roughly to shape before it cools down n' stiffens.
