Czech small arms

Does anyone here know any good leads for Czech weapons, circa 1941? I'm not looking for figures, just weapons. When Nord went to Finland in '41, most of their rifles, pistols, and machineguns were of Czech origin. I'd like to be able to model early Nord with proper weaponry.

Just outta curiosity, because I just noticed them whilst searching something else, how about a Skoda Rad Schlepper Ost? I'll eventually do a Raupenschlepper Ost, but the wheeled versions look kinda cool, in a weird way!

Re: Czech small arms

Okay, I know of the Lehky Kulomet ZB vz30 which the Germans also used, it is a LMG. Uhh.. I'm not sure that the rifles and pistols would have come from Czechoslovakia. If they did, that is new info for me. Although while they were there, they did pick up a habbit for using the Suomi Model 31.

Re: Czech small arms

I haven't been able to nail down specific nomenclature, but I'd be willing to bet that the rifles were Mauser types. It's easy enough to find the standard Czech issue weapons of the time, and go from there, but I'm striving for a higher accuracy level than that.

Re: Czech small arms

I thought they would have used German issued weapons. The vz30 is the best I could do, sorry mate.

But do you know if the whole inventory was 'Czech based'?

Re: Czech small arms

About 70-80% of their weapons were Czech. I have copies of the reports. Not sure about mortars, but absotively positive about rifles, pistols, and MGs.

Photos of them using Czech MGs, too!

Re: Czech small arms

If you're talking about finding these weapons in 1/35, then you should check out 'Tank'. They're from Russia and make excellent figures and weapons sets from WW2 especially. They also have a big range of modern Russian stuff. That's the best I can do mate, but I do know that Dragon have one set of German figures available and the machine gunner is carrying that Czech LMG.

Good catch! I had forgotten about that set!

I just went right to the source. I couldn't find anything on CMK's site, so I wrote and asked them for further info. I figure a Czech model company might be more familiar with the market there than us!

CMK are they? Glad you knew that detail...I saw so many kits at the shop yesterday, they all started to blend...
