Re: Modeling News & New Kits

I like the effect you can get with the Acrylic Gel, on ship dios. That's got to be a lot of work. I have to admit though, I don't much care for the cut hull models...I like the full hull, as I like to see the whole underside. Personal taste, I guess.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

There is still a lot of old Airfix out there! Hornby have just bought Corgi. So we now have Airfix (plastic kits), Scalextric (slot cars), Corgi (Diecast models and toys) all owned by Hornby (model Railways). Basically, if you are into good old fashioned 3d hobbies in the UK you are giveing your money to the same people!!

MAGNA, the guy that builds the ships regularly wins first prize in his category at the local Expo (Queen's Birthday w'kend). He brings maybe two finished models to the club per year because they take him so long...his French battleship 'Richelieu' is a masterpiece. He modelled it as it was during a refit. He's depicted it being re-painted...a novel idea and excellently finished. Unfortunately, the guy himself reinforces the classic 'modeller' stereotype. Every time I try to talk to him (I'm pretty confident and out going) he seems to want to fold himself up and disappear...he's painfully shy. I'll tell him though...it might help his confidence in some small way.
Peace.
Thanks Geek. He does deserve all the credit he gets. I'm sure you'll manage to bring him out of his shell eventually.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

DML #6383 is old news (almost a year old) but it's been awfully quiet 'bout the kit since it first was presented. Hopefully it's the real deal now as I'd really would love to try an prezimmerited Tiger.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

That 1/16 Panzer IV looks a bit odd. Like the shape isn't quite right. I think it looks too short or the upper hull is too tall. Factory fresh ain't she?
Thanks LAH, that Tiger looks great.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

Tamiya have received some criticism for their other 1:16 R/C tanks n' I'd think not only once or twice but a long very long time on my way to rob the bank before I get one of those as the prizetag is ridicullus, 'round 7000 SEK n' that's without radio n' other needfull stuff here in Sweden for one of their 1:16 R/C tanks.

But the Sd.Kfz. 7 from Dragon on the other hand has to be a very welcome kit in most camps considerin' the competition is only Tamiya's vintage kit.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

The Sdkfz. 7 would look good with Dragon's 88 too. I bought Tamiya's Flak 36 and found out Dragon made one the same day. Oh well... I don't know if Dragon's includes transport bogies or not. Tamiya's old kit does but the new doesn't (as I've mentioned about twenty times I know. I'm disappointed).
I'm interested in that self-propelled 105 too. Never seen that before.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

Sell it on Ebay mate! Dragon have at least three 88's in their range.
