Re: Model Kit Reviews
Yes it's an odd vehicle. Not that interesting for me either to build as only one saw cambat as far as I know. All the rest was rebuilt to Ferdinands.

Re: Model Kit Reviews
Yeah MAG, that's the first reason I didn't get it. The second was zimmerit.
Here are the atest progress pics on my tank. I went for some colour fading and other stuff with the oil paints. I've 'overdone' the effect somewhat to accommodate later weathering... Paint 2.jpg What I did was to mix up some oil paint of a similar colour to the base. I then had a range of oil colour from darker than base to nearly white. I applied some blobs to an area and blended then in with a soft brush. Here's the result not quite finished. Weather 1.jpg Weather 2.jpg Weather 4.jpg

Re: Model Kit Reviews
How have you done the chippin'?
Tape? Scotch Brite? Brush? Other? It sure does look good n' they should be well chipped in the desert in my mind.

Re: Model Kit Reviews
Yeah, hell of a sandstorm there mate! NICE! Urban brings up a good point...did you "chip" the paint, or paint it in with artist oils? You've inspired me in wanting to do an Afrika Korps model, myself!
And, I love the detail on the inside of the Commander's cupola/hatch (what is the term again for that hatck?).

Re: Model Kit Reviews
Thanks again lads...my only concern is the final finish. I've gone quite heavy with the oil paint after using the model as a canvas to paint on. It's rendered my previous filters largely invisible...oh well. The oil paint will probably dry satin and I'll need to find something that will give a true matt for a final coat and I've been largely unimpressed by the 'matt' finishes I've used in the past. To my eyes, Testors Dullcote is anything but 'dull'.
