When my kids have had rodents that died they (the rodents, not the kids ) were thrown in the trash in a Zip-loc bag. We do bury dogs but not rodents.

If they are both pets, why are they being treated differently?

Re: Hellooooo everybody!

Dogs are companions and are often more pleasant to be around than are people. Rodents are...well they are rodents. They have no value except as snake food.

Re: Hellooooo everybody!

Nah, Jim, you gotta play fair I'm not a fan of rodents, either, and I probably will never understand people with pets like snakes or iguanas... but they're pets no less than your dogs or my cats, right?

I just think all pets are created equal

Re: Hellooooo everybody!

@Jim: Wait a sec. How big are the dogs you are allowed to bury in your own garden?

@Tom: I heard that guinea pigs taste quite good. I know that dogs do. And snakes for that matter...

It varies by municipality. Here, where I am, there are no restrictions on burying dogs and cats.

Oh, and by the way I keep and have bred snakes.

Well, I'm pretty sure I've had dog. Possibly even monkey. There have been a few meals overseas where I'm not entirely sure what I was eating. What the hell, it tasted good!

Re: Hellooooo everybody!

@Jim: In Austria everything that is bigger than a cat is not allowed to be burried in your backyard. Because of the danger of water contamination.

I tried snake and alligator when I visited Florida. Quite good meat. Did you breed them just for fun, or did you eat them?

@Tom: You never know what you get when you are in a foreign country. If it tastes good, you better don't ask what it is. I didn't eat dog on purpose. My Grandfather has a weird sense humor. He put the dog meat into the Gulasch and didn't tell anybody. Thats how I came to know that crow ain't that bad either. But that is a different story.

Re: Hellooooo everybody!

I've had some strange meats under my belt, too, if only because "strange" because they are so in American culture and not elsewhere. I've had frog legs, cow tungue, pig ears, pig feet, chicken blood, and intestines of various kinds.

Wonder if you guys can guess my country of origin based on these foods

As for burying... I wonder what my father did with the rabbits we had when I was little. As for my pets now... I don't want to think about that yet...
