Can you identify?

I need help identifying this uniform. I'm pretty sure that it is from WWII time period. Other than that, I don't really know anything. I've had some people say that it's civilian and others seem to think it's Army. Can anyone help identify?

Re: Can you identify?

It's not American or German military. Maybe if we could see a better image of the cap badge. He does appear to be standing at attention, I'ld say maybe police??

Re: Can you identify?

I've had several people tell me that it could be civilian. Maybe guarding a military base or something. Do you have any idea how to track down any information about it? The two pictures in the attachment show the cap badge a little better.

Still blurry, at least to my eyes. It kind of looks like he's wearing wings off some sort, that made me think of the 'Civil Air Patrol'. Tried a google search but could not come up with an image from the forty's.

I thought Civil Air Patrol as well, for the same reason, but this uniform does not match any of the photos I was able to find from that era.

That background is kind of wild! Would you do any kind of official photo with a background like that? Do you know who Slim and Hazel are?

Re: Can you identify?

Found a feature where I can enlarge the picture up to 200%, unfortunatly the letters only get even more blurry. However at 125% it almost looks like the bottom of the badge says (patrolman???) the top of the badge has U.S. and those are wings with an upright propeller in the middle of them.

We may have better luck trying to run down the insignia and badge. I'll be away from my computer for a couple of days, but thats the track I'm going to take. Unless someone beats me to it!

Re: Can you identify?

Hazel is my aunt and Slim is a past husband. She is deceased now. I don't know very much about Slim. I'm trying to learn as much as possible. It's been a real challenge. I can't seem to find any real information about the 'Civil Air Patrol'. That seems to be the biggest lead anyone can give.

Re: Can you identify?

The wings are Army Air Corps or Air Force, I'm tempted to say he is a civilian police officer hired by the Air Corps/Air Force.

Re: Can you identify?

Do you have any idea how to get more information about civilian police or what base he may have served at? I run into dead ends everywhere I turn.
