New Member, Where to Start?
Hi:
My name is Andrew Edwards. I lost an uncle on D-Day, June 6th 1944. I have been told that he was killed at Utah Beach. He was in the Navy on an LCT. I am trying to find out more information about him, his boat, the situation. Can anyone recommend a place to start? It would be interesting to identify the boat and determine if any vets are still around who may have been with him. |

Do you have the LCT's number?

Re: New Member, Where to Start?
Once you have the number, it will help a lot. You'll be able to contact the Navy's historical divisions, veteran associations, etc. Just something to help you Google better, if anything.
Once you have the number please share. I'll hit up my sources for you too. |

Re: New Member, Where to Start?
I'm not entirely sure, but I think there are veterans groups of amphib sailors. Try googling LST veterans.
It won't be exactly what you're looking for, but those guys would have a better idea of where to start. Never mind, start here: U.S. LST ASSOCIATION Veteran's Hall lct203.htm Landing Craft Tank Photo Index That should get you going! Good luck! |
