Members Art
I know there's at least one other member here, a certain person I like to refer to as 'The Brush King' who likes to dabble in the arts, military or otherwise. I thought that if I posted a few of my own scratchings, maybe...just maybe I might be able to entice, invite, encourage or just plain bully him into sharing some of his work here. If it's possible at any rate. I'd also like to extend that invitation to any other member who feels they may have something to contribute. Anyway...here are a few of mine...all military (esque) for now. I have more but not handy. I hope you enjoy them. Any comments welcome. I'm waaaay too arrogant and smug to be offended.
![]() ![]() Eject.jpg This one is 0.1mm felt tip pen on paper. I call it 'Eject!' Just Do It!.jpg Pencil on paper. 'Just Do It!' Smoko.jpg Pencil on paper. 'Smoko'. (In Oz...a 'smoko' is taking a break...derived from having a smoke.) Waiting for Bubba (Hicks).jpg This is my first serious attempt at oil painting. It's basically about David Hicks, the Aussie guy caught with the Taliban and spent four years in Guantanamo. I call it 'Waiting for Bubba'. ('Bubba' is the generic term for the guy who rapes you in prison). Sorry if some of them are a bit small...I'm still getting to grips with mediocre computer skills. Peace.

Re: Members Art
'Bubba' was started in 2003 and is stil not finished. Probably never will be either. There's also this.
Weird beast.jpg This is called 'Fundamental-case' Smoko Detail.jpg This is a detail from 'Smoko' above. For those that don't know, I used to work as a graphic designer until the wankers in the industry drove me insane. I just got sick of hearing how 'talented' and 'gifted' all these mediocre corporates were. Since then, I've had three exhibitions and sold quite a bit of work over the years, so I don't have much left to show. I haven't picked up a pencil or brush for five years now. Too busy modelling. I still draw 100 train locomotives a day for my son though...just to keep my hand in. One day, I'll get back to it. More later. Peace.

Re: Members Art
Thanks Klaus. Any comparison to Munch is a great compliment...I'm a big fan. Thankfully, I'm not nearly as unhappy as he was. BTW the translation is correct. We know it as 'The Scream'. What a masterpiece it is.
Peace.

Re: Members Art
To be honest I was to lazy to look the name up on an english site. I just translated it from german. But as it seems luck was on my side.

Re: Members Art
Thank you for sharing Nick. I had the same thought as Klaus did...well actually it took my brain a moment of "What is it that that painting brings to mind?". Just showing my age I suppose.
More!

Re: Members Art
Excellent work Geek.
I'm not really one for modern art myself but good colouring on the Bubba pic. I really like the effect in the Eject picture as well. Have you ever tried Painter ? A top of the range program and one you would handle really well judging by what you have shown us here. As a suggestion. you might want to send Whiterook a copy of Fundamental-case to show him what is going to happen if he keeps sniffing those boxes. |
