Re: German Military

Very nice job on that Cy, wasn't it SS only that wore those camo smocks too? or did the para guys wear something like that?

No, para units had their own. But as to your question about the panzer camo, from what I have gathered panzer commanders "borrowed" the oak leaf and white reversible over-wear from the Waffen SS.

I, or rather Barry, have examples of both and will post them over the next two days.

Re: German Military

On the subject of Waffen SS camo schemes I have four examples of late war patterens:

Summer printed on waterproof cotton duck

Autumn also printed on waterproof cotton duck

Autumn printed on the reverse of winter white came jacket

And the final pattern of the war printed on drill

Cool Re: German Military

They were all painted on or just the last pattern? They make nice backgrounds to some of my wallpaper. Cyberia do you have an sample of the Grey used in Artillery Uniforms etc. I have a nice sample of the Grey/Green wool not real good ones of the later.

I always find it amusing that the Heer found the Waffen SS "amusing" when they were trialing CAM Smocks, and yet after Poland "I believe" they scrambled to get similar Smocks to their troops. Some of those patterns still do very well in hiding a soldier. I still believe a reversable cam smock would be an asset to troops today. Certianly would solve some problems for our troops in Afganistan, Most times yes it's desert cam, but in some places an easy change to a green pattern would be handy. A reversable smock is certainly cheaper and more versitile. You could produce them for whatever terain you are deploying to. Anyhow I'm drifting off topic, but food for thought.

All printed according to my source. When you say artillery Bob, do you mean Sturmartillerie? I lucked out on a fantastic book with color plates with almost all mechanized uniforms, caps and collars.

I agree with you on the smocks. It makes sense to me.

Thumbs up Re: German Military

Yes the Sturmartillerie and since you seem to have a source, Panzerwaffe Black would be nice.
