The model 37 schnurschuh or the "Low Boots" and Gemaschen

These are my lowboots from Schlosser's Supply Room (who also specialize in Blank only fully auto SMGs). THey are probably the best on the market for their price and everyone tells me I won't blow out hobnails like its cool. My only issue is that just like the historical shoe, they don't make wides, so I've been trying to stretch these puppies out with water and with my feet. They fit ok now but i have to almost fully unlace them to get them off or on. Sadly I went to that winter event and it didn't occur to me until I saw the mold on the bottom later that the whole shoe is leather, so I scrubbed the bottoms with saddle soap and will dub the bottom with mink oil as well.

The Gemaschen are a lightweight canvas with leather reinforcement. I believe they are originals with repro hardware. (Bought from Grigsby's Militaria). Regardless they are cool to wear and you don't blouse your trousers into these. German Manuals stated that one should fold their trousers into the gemaschen instead of stuffing them as folding helps save the seams on the trousers.

M43 Field Cap and M38 Field Cap

You can see the obviousness of the insignia and field and side caps. I believe its BeVo. Both are repros.

Combat Y-Straps

[b]

Brand new leather Y-straps waiting to get broke in. I don't have a belt and full gear to attach them to to demonstrate the full gear set.

Gas Mask Can

This is a gas mask can I picked up at Navajo. I have no clue but I suspect its postwar. If anyone recognizes the markings let me know. Or if you can decipher them at all. It has the wrong straps (cotton for the mainstrap and green canvas for the belt) which furthers my suspicions but if I need to I can paint it a different color and I will be buying the proper straps. you can see the spare lense holder in the lid.

UPDATE! I put a new canvas strap on there. But I learned something about it. Translating the words on top they translate out to something about it being authorized for sale at some air-raid shelter, so it is civilian as I suspected, BUT I'm guessing the -38 might stand for 1938 because as I found out, the early type gas mask canisters (even in the military) used the cotton strap as well as were short as these and they lacked the spring loaded hinge. Technically I could sand the top down and paint the whole thing again and it would look like an early war gas mask (I'd found a picture of a '40 dated can)

Snow Goggles

The "Yellow" lensed snow goggles and case. They are wonderful in the winter. The lenses are perfect but the case is obviously rusty. Originals.

Mess Tin

Im still looking for the proper utensils but this is a post-war tin. The ones made by the BW immediately after the war were the same height but included an additional cup inside. Anything after that differs in appearance and is almost an inch taller. Everyone says I should leave the color instead of painting it Field Grey,

Zeltbahn

Another prized possession. An original Zeltbahn that has shelter ropes, all three grommets, and all of its buttons! Its patched all to h*** but its in once piece. A steal at $75 though repros go for the same. It doesn't have its distinct shape because I have buttoned it together for wear as a poncho (those brighter flaps conceal two buttons that allow you to stick your head through. I included a closeup of the pattern for the modellers out there. But remember its heavily faded.

M40 Trousers

M40 Trousers from Hessan (yes Hessan) antique (pretty much THE best place for German stuff out there) so its a repro and it came in a group of things I got from a German re-enactor but his coat was way to big for me. So I will be buying one later, (besides I'd have to change everything on it for GD). I think the coolest feature are the button up hip pockets, the adjustable back, and a pocket watch pocket.

Heer Belt Buckle

Yes Gott mit uns. Or so they thought. I have a belt from another guy in my GI unit. It just needs holes punched to fit me, but I have to get it from him first. An original I believe. Needs cleaned a little though.
