interesting museum

I just visited a small (they hope to build a larger one)
but very interesting museum that I would recommend
if you are ever in this neck of the woods (near
Boulder, CO, USA).

Among the displays, it had remains of a ME-109,
that dead stick crash landed in Russia. The prop
had bullet holes & was bent from the crash.

The museum director said German pilots only
got 10 hours in various trainers (starting with
a glider) before they got into the very high
powered 109. From pictures of it, you can
see the tail is very small for its size.

This led to huge numbers of takeoff/landing
crashes. The director said 10% of ME-109s
were lost this way.

Messerschmitt could not build planes for 5
years after the war. So the museum has
a sewing machine made by them & a model
of a 3 wheeled Messerschmitt car from that
era.

Re: interesting museum

I 'think', the close proximity of the landing gear (wheels) might have had a little to do with it also. From what I have read, it was a pisser even for the well trained pilots.Later on in the war yrs, I kinda guess trained pilots were far and few between. Like Japan. The same would have occurred to all the rest of the belligerents if the tide of war were different. I love going to those museums.

That's sounds like an interestin museum! Way away from my neck of the woods, but worth a peek when in the area!

Not my post above. Something is out of whack!

Perhaps someone has your password and used your mobile data provider, as it came from the same ISP and a very similar IP address. Both posts originated from a mobile provider in the Atlanta area. No other user of this board has any IP match to your IP's (though one is close but all of that users IP's localize to the US West). If you believe that someone is accessing your account then change your passwords and check security at your end.

Let me know if it happens again.
