Many Former POWs Are Eligible Purple Heart
I recently discovered many former WWII, and Korean POWs have not received what is due. Recognition for their wounds received while taken captive or during captivity. (Including frostbite).
It was not until February 10, 1996 initial authorization was approved for the Purple Heart awarded to POWs wounded before 25 April 1962. It was Public Law 104-106. I would be happy to assist any interested individual. Also, it would be great for everyone that is a member of a veteran's group to share the information. This includes next-of-kins of former POWs that fit the circumstances. I believe it has been long enough for those not yet recognized... Robert |

Re: Many Former POWs Are Eligible Purple Heart
Thanks for this info. Do you know if it applies to other medals and awards as well?
