WHEN he left the Army in 1946 after serving four years in the Pacific, Leonard W. Long was more interested in trying to raise his family than in medals or commemorations. But now, Mr. Long, who is one of New Jersey’s dwindling number of World War II veterans, hopes to see the completion of a World War II memorial in Trenton that has been in the planning stages for years but has yet to break ground.
