Let's not forget those Germans who for whatever reasons found the Nazi leadership completely distasteful. The courage of the German army Officer Stauffenberg who tried with others to rid his world of a man who he thought was thoroughly evil. Possibly reasonably based upon his religious convictions.To make a stand knowing that that whole of Germany might condemn him and others and still do it, is truly courageous.

In Austria and Germany Stauffenberg is considred a "Hero" of the German fight for democracy. But he was a nationalist to the bone. He was antisemitic. Democracy devinitivly wasn't one of his goals should the assasination have been succsessful. But I get your point.
