I think its beautiful how its seamless for the most part, I will work out the wings edge seams, and will attempt to get near the cockpits seam. But RAF, ATLEAST the nose seam is gone, as you whined over the P51s "bloody seam" right down the middle.

Its not like there's metalizer or paint on there.. much prep to be done boys. I lost raised detail but no seam is way better!

Yeah way better than the 1st one you ever posted up Mag
Part of the fun of a good kit is putting back the detail you destroyed lol

Eh.. my beautiful paint job will keep it ace.. I dont know a clue about 'putting back' detail. I used to build lego cars, ships, planes and then just mash them..

Wings and main body glued, had a light gap and used super glue and a toothpick and sanded it.. no detail lost yet. Will do another primer coat to see if shes all patched up.

North American F-51D is the right name for that machine as it's an bird from the Korea war. USAAF changed the destignation on their fighters after WWII to F for Fighter from P for Pursuit.

Yes, didnt they also remove the red outline on the star and bar decal when they changed it to F? Picked that up from my other forum, just suprised they had that big of a typo on their instructions!

That's not a bad kit...I had it myself not that long ago. My son finished it off.
The Star and Bar insignia had a red outline for about three months in 1943 (I think it was '43). It was taken out again so that the red wouldn't cause confusion with the Japanese Hinomaru (the meatball). After WW2, red lines were added to the Star and Bar and remain in place today except for on low-viz insignia.
Mag, you seem to like shark mouth nose art...me too.

Yeah man, its something different from a basic nose and gives the plane some personality like its more then just a plane, you know? But the kit also has the RAF and NZ decals.. going to be mailing the decals to NZ after im done because I struck a deal with another forum member.. he wants the NZ set and im doing US so, alls well.

My kit has a rough fit, had to do a lot of sanding and putty so far, the testors corsair I built was fit perfect. But italeri had a nice plane to offer..

    Re: The Progressive Post

If it's an RAF Mustang then it's probably a P-51K the P-51K had different propellors to the D as they were made in a different factory due to the high demand. The props for the RAf variant (K) were slightly inferior to the standard props with the top speed reduced by about 31 mph.
Because of the difference in speed the USAAF decided that it couldn't operate wings/squadrons with these differing speed propellors. so it was decided to let the RAF have them instead.
