Wink Flames of War, Partisan & Polizie mini-game

OK, I got a request from a new member here to spill it on this, the Partizan & Polizie sub-game from the Bagration Firestorm book that I have.

    From this book

And the first pages of this in the book......

Now you have to have this item to start playing, as I understand our new member does in fact have, then you need some of the basic FoW Infrantry stands, German and Russian, but more on that later.

    Cheers

Post Re: Flames of War, Partisan & Polizie mini-game

    First the German Polizie force

So we have One Commannder for the Germans, Dieter von Gaudron, rated as a comabt vet, a leader and has a sub-machinegun for special abilities. The guy in the middle, back row.

Then we have One Schultz, who's special ability is a comabt vet and submachine-gun, located in the pic, the guy with the potato masher just to the right of the Commander by the AA truck.

Then One Dietrich who has just the submachine-gun stat located just to the left of the Commander.

Three canine officers that have the dog handler stat located right if front on the pic as you can guess I bet, LOL!!

One Weits and Stern infrantry stand that have a Light machine-gun rule/stat located as the two guys on one stand on the far left just behind the motorcycle team.

One Motorcycle team that is listed as a recon team

And One AA portee gun truck, listed as reinforced protection and an automatic weapon rule.

Now once you have all of this painted up, you need Nine regular German infrantry stands (medium base) as well to portray German rifle teams. And for one specific mission you will need five covered Opal Blits trucks.

All of these units are rated as Confident Vets for stats.

The base dice roll to hit any Partisan teams is Three+, and for assaults as well, For motivation checks German teams need a four+ to pass it.

    Rule/ability info for the Germans

AA gun truck automatic fire -
A Four Rate of fire of shots if standing still or moving, but adds a one+ if moving to hit Partisan teams. And they use an arty template to see what units can be hit.....

    Combat Vet -
German rifle teams that have a unit with this skill attacked to them get a minus One taken off their skill checks in an assault.

    Dog handler -
Partisan Villagers if within six inchs of dog German rifle teams with a dog handler attached CAN"T MOVE as they are to frightened, and thethe Rifle team rerolls its assault dice roll if it fails its first attempt.

    Leader -
German rifle teams with a unit with this skill attached have a minus One for any motivation dice checks.

    Light Machine-gun -
With a LMG attached to a German rifle stand and if they don't move they get a four rate of fire and the arty template again to see who can be hit. If it moves then the base One rate of fire, If pinned a Four rate of fire but a one+ is added to hit.

    Recon -
    use the recon sprcial rules

    Reinforced protection -
The AA portee truck if hit and fails its saving through, a firepower check is required to destroy it, and in an assault as well!!! But it is very heavy so it can never move at the double....

    Submachine-gun -
A minus One is added to hit any enemy team...

    Cheers, more later

    Cool, you found the thread!!
As to the first part, yes, you need some of the medium stand infrantry units to play the game.

As to the other question, I think it is really meant to be for smaller (flavor games) rather than adding it to a regular FoW game. But I don't see why you can't "house rule" it into a FoW game, as a smaller battle within a bigger(regular) FoW battle.

In the Firestorm campaign game I play at the local hobby store we actually game these smallish games when the Partizan and Polizie Firestorm units come together in that phase of the campaign turn, fairly interesting that as a little extra rather than just normal FoW games.

Cheers, I'd try the small game for now so you can see the basics first, then add onto it later in an addition to a regular FoW game. I'm fairly busy at work at the moment until the holiday is over, but I'll get the posts out to you as I can, then the three battles between these two forces in the book.

    Thank you so much.

Lightbulb Re: Flames of War, Partisan & Polizie mini-game

I think you mean add a Partizan "Company" to a Russian Batallion and a Polizie Platoon to a German one, FOR a game that has BOTH regular forces and the P & P together, right?

Let me get to the Partizan force, then the missions, then we can go from there.

Cheers, Hey, maybe even a test game between us if you want, with just the basics at the Game Den!!

Now we have the Russain Partisans

Vasiliy Kravchenko, Hero of the people in the front center of the pic above
Special abilities - Combat vet, Leader and submachine-gun

Vladimir Michurin - back of the bunch center carrying the AT rifle
    Special abilities - Anti-tank Rifle

Yuri Solovyov, in the exact center, center holding the LMG
    Special abilities - Light Machine-gun

Demolitiion experts x 3, the 3 units on the far right side
    special abilities - Demolition

    Submachine-gunner x 3, 1 stand front left and 2 center right
    special abilities - submachine-guns

Markmen x 2, 2 units on the left back 2 rows
    special abilities - marksmen

    Villagers (pictured below) x 10
    special abilities - peasants (LOL)

    The Villagers

    Special rule explanations

The base dice score to hit a Polizei unit by these Partisans is a 4+, as well as in any assault, Motivation tests are passed with a dice roll of a 3+ for Partisans.

Using the basic Russian Infrantry medium stands again for your main force, you need rifle infrantry stands along with the Partisans listed above.

Anti-tank Rifle - Rifle teams with this unit attached has a firepower rating of 5, and can be combined with the Light machine-gun or submachinegun units

Combat vet - same as the Germans, -1 added to any team attached to this team to pass a skill test in an assault.

Demolition - Rifle teams with a demolition stand attached automatically pass a firepower test to destroy enemy vehicles in an assault

Leader, - same as the Germans, a -1 added to pass any motivation tests

Light machine-gun, same as the Germans one If a rifle team fires with this unit attached, and does not move the fire is considered automatic fire, rate of fire as a 4 shots, use an arty template so see who can be hit. If they moved, rate of fire of 1, if pinned down it retains its shots per turn but addds a 1+ on the to hit score needed.

Markmen - Rifle teams with this unit attached rerol any failed to hit rolls, any enemy team is NOT considered gone to ground when being shot at by this unit.

    * Molitov cocktails - Rifle teams with this unti attached has a firepower of 5+ in an assault (I think they deleted this in the book or a copy error, as none of the Partisans have this skill listed in my book???)

    Peasant -
Do NOT give any abilities to any units in the game, regular 6 inch movement only no moving at the double, motivation tests on a 5+.

Submachine-gun - same as the Germans, rifle teams witha unit of this attached getas - on their to hit dice rolls when shooting.

    Cheers, more a bit later

No problem, I'll get to the battles in a bit then see what you think, I hav'nt painted all of the units yet, but we've done a few battles as I mentioned before on the Bagraton campaign.

Cheers, I'm glad you like it so far!!

Post Re: Flames of War, Partisan & Polizie mini-game

    Sorry for the delay

Heroes ( All of the specific units noted on the other posts, excluding the regular FoW rifle infrantry stands)

All Hero units operate like regular Rifle units, BUT can't shoot or launch assaults by themselves. They need to attach to a regular Rifle team to activate their special atributes.

To do so the Hero units need to end their movement step right next to a rifle unit, then itr adds its special rules TO that unit, and moves with the regular rifle unit in assaults.
It can only attach to 1 rifle unit at a time, but 2 Hero units can attach to 1 Rifle unit lending all attributes from both Hero units. Hero can't be pinned down by themselves, only if the Rifle unit it is attached to is pinned down, it it as well pinned down.

Hero units can't be chosen to be shot at while attached to the Rifle squad, but can be if not attacked to any.

If a Rifle team fails its regular infrantry save, it can elect to kill a support Hero instead of itself, but then the emaining Rifle sqad is considered to be pinned down.

If a Hero team is assaulted without being attached to a Rifle team it is considered to be destroyed. And if a Rifle team is destroyed while attached to a Hero unit, the Hero is also destroyed.

Cheers, so in the end Hero units can add a lot to the basic Rifle teams, but can cause problems as well. Shooting step is next.
