Surrounded near Bastogne, American troops "hunker down" on the line
Nostradamus predicted this.
Dear "razorboy" you have a little wrongin the first pic "schwimmwagen"of the Bulge offensive.the guy of the pic is a "SS-Unterscharführer Ochsner"(with cigar) and "SS-Oberscharführer Persin"....and belongs to 3.Kompanie, SS-Pz.Aufkl.Abt.1 from "Kampfgruppe Knittel"....at 18 December 1944 around the Kaiserbaracke crossroads east of Stavelot

Looks like we have an ardennes and waffen ss expert amongst us, glad to have you mate . The second photo has been identified in many resource's, as the lead element's of Kg Peiper's recon battalion is this correct kostas
thank you my friend ,in the second pic has become a misinformation from many sites.
"Kampfgruppe Knittel" it acted near Stavelot (behind Kg Peiper's) and took order to advance in this town for recaptured from Americans 30th infantry division and elements of 823 tank destroyer battalion .....i think.
Exist a lot few original pictures from Kampfgruppe Peiper because this group advance in night and fast. The more of this pic was a "staged-propaganda".
I hope you understood![]()
Yes i did understan Kosta's Thankyou for the clarification mate.
Paul the caption is a bit off. Those are members of the 2nd Infantry Div and were not near Bastogne at all during the battle. They were the extreme north shoulder of the intrusion on Elsenbern Ridge. I far as I can find they were never surrounded and put up a stiff resistance.
