    Siege of Breslau

    Guys

Here is a link to some really insightful photos about the Siege of Breslau. The photos give some idea of the desperation that existed in the Reich in 1945and the desperate fighting that occured:

    Hendrick Verton
Dutch SS accounts are very rare, Of particular historical interest are his later recollections of service during 1944-45 with SS Regiment Besslein on the Eastern Front, focusing on his participation in the epic defence of Breslau - this siege remains little-known in the West. First-hand accounts such as Hendrik's are are very rare making this title a worthy addition to the literature on the Second World War. 296pp. c. 20 photos & maps

My Grandma is from Breslau. She got out before the Russians arrived and reached Dresden just in time for the bombing. She was burried under the rubble for over one week. Hasn't set a foot in cellar since then.
