Ideas Please

I have been given a box of models, mostly 1/72nd WWII planes. I have mentioned these elsewhere but I would now like some ideas on what to do with them. They range from good condition minus propeller blades for most to a couple in really bad shape.

Some are missing tail wings, some cockpit glass and so on.

I will post a couple of pics soon.

If anyone has any ideas on how to refurbish them or some other method for making them useful please feel free to post your ideas.

Well, if they're only missing propellers, a disc of clear plastic and some string to hang it from the ceiling would put it in flight.

Other than that, use the banged up ones for crash vignettes, or use them to bump up your scratch-building skills!

Thanks Tom. I can't really hang them from the ceiling though, and as far as bumping up skills, the only thing I can scratch without looking is my ar....m.

Still - the prop thought gives me an idea I might try. Thanks. You're a genius.

If you have a couple of spinners with props broken off you could cut prop blades off one and attach to another to make one good one. If there 1/72 I'm thinking there probably molded as one piece. Cut one prop blade off right down on the spinner, clean up your "good' spinner and attach. Might need to sand one or two into shape but thats easy enough.

Dave, if you are into making 1/72 "scenes", those might be perfect to add a little bit extra for you diorama, or even a game one might run!! WINK

I'm gonna guess Revell. Its usually a hit or miss with them. DO the ones that look good in quality. Those that aren't you can use for scrap parts for a seperate project OR (if you really want to impress me..which really isn't hard) put some of the bad stuff on the good stuff and make a battle scene out of it.

OR some Russian ones on some German tanks, (pref of Panthers) for that little "extra" punch and firepower I think!!!
