    What's happening here?

I came across this picture on the internet. There's no caption or any kind of explanation. What is happening in this picture? The U boat seems to be signaling the UK warship, the warship is obiviously not feeling threatened. Smoke seems to be billowing out of the U boat's conning tower, are they signaling for help??? If so, this would have to be prior to the outbreak of hostilities. Great picture, I just wish I knew what was happening.

Interesting, although it looks Photoshopped or is 3-D art. The photographer would have to be hovering above the water to take the picture and I don't know how the crewman standing on the railing has managed to stay on the vessel.
If you bought it, we brought it.

Heck, it's still a good picture. It does look kinda 'put togeather' though. It would be neat to find out it's original intent.

It's good but I think it's a computer generated image. Note the smoke billowing from the U-boat's hatch. It's clearly in deep do-do.
    Peace.

Cool pic but I concur that it's either a chop or an image from PC game.

The sub, although apparently in trouble is still making way judging by the shape of the bow wave.

Why is the sailor standing on the guard rail? Risking going over the side for no purpose, holding the flare straight up will do.

Where is the photographer standing? The highest point you can walk on a u-boat is where the stailor is standing in the pic.

The surface ship in the pic (apparently a KGV class battleship) is flying its' jack from the bow, this flag is only flown alongside.

Oh come on now! That is so obviously a CG image... Can't believe any of you would think otherwise.

I don't think anybody thought it was a real image, just wondering what was being portrayed in the picture.

That ship looks to small to be a battleship so what RN heavy cruiser had a quad turret? What ever pc gamer that created it should have done his homework.

Well that's good! Hey, maybe the guy on the rail is jumping overboard..while franticly waving his smoke flare thing.... Oh whatever! The more I look at it the more it looks like an overdramatized scene from a movie!
