Problem solved, I think, eh?

Re: Umlaut icons - schnell!

TPMM - Thank you for the excellent tip! It works just great on my keyboard.

As a further shortcut, I've put all the commonly used Umlauts on a Notepad on my desktop. When I need one, I just copy-paste it!

But with the code you supplied us, I can access Umlauts from any computer.

Thank you very much for a very helpful contribution to our Forum.

Sincerely,
David

Re: Umlaut icons - schnell!

This whole thread has been great, and most helpful!

As a person who respects languages very much, I would never dream of typing a German word without the proper Umlaut, nor would I ever use the "lazy man's way" of typing oe instead of ö (example Goering *cringes* instead of Göring).
I mean, no wonder the man took poison at the Nürnberg war crimes trials ....he probably saw that on his death sentence his name was spelled Goering!

I love the alt codes, which (as has been noted) is a lot easier than copying and pasting.

temujin77, I don't have a Mac, but I do have friends that do. I appreciate you finding the appropriate codes for the Mac keyboard. I will pass this info along to them.

And thank you generalderpanzertruppen for starting this whole thread!
Umlaut icons - schnell! Danke!!

Sincerely,
David
