The human side
One of my uncles served in the seventh army as a lineman. He told me alot of stories about this time. Just before the surrender some men in his unit were ambushed by a whermacht patrol . After the shooting had ended a german medic treated the wounded G I s . All the Germans were wanting was the jeep the Americans were in. We always here the atroctity stories ,but we never here the human side. They very well could have killed the wounded Americans,or left them there untreated.They took the time to look after them.
