BATTLEFRONT: Breaking the Tide ("I Want My Grandma!!!")

German defensive fire.

The JagdPanther and JagdPanzer fire at the brown T34 with a predictable result. Smoke pours out of the T34 as it grinds to a halt and the crew bails. The Panther takes a shot at the KV with no result. The troops in the trenches in the middle take a long range shot at the first Russian infantry unit. A suppression.

At the top woods the Grenadiers fire at the oncoming Russians. Their disordered status prevents them from doing any damage.

Close combat phase.

Trenches above top woods.

Germans - one disordered section

Russians - two sub machine gun sections, one tank.

The Panzer Grenadiers lose by four. Another German infantry unit disappears after causing no damage. Strange.

It is now the German turn with artillery first.

Dave, could you be a little more specific on that assault, sorry, you kinda lost me there.....

What units for both sides are left, by the numbers, then how many are supressed, disordered, fleeing maybe.... Germans lost but that means what specifically, I now control the trenchs and remaining Germans are fleeing the scene, or something else I bet.....

No worries. When I say a German unit disappears after a close combat I mean it is eliminated, gone, kaput, and so on....

You have one suppressed unit at the top set of trenches. All other units up there are ok.

Other than the loss of the brown T34, the Soviet units are still rolling forward.

Whether that remains the case after artillery and offensive fire by the Germans is another thing. We will have to wait for the Von Hagen/Whiterook combination to decide their move.

German artillery phase.

I hope I have the correct interpretation of the orders here. If not, the comms officer will be blamed.

The German artillery opens up on the Russian troops funneled in through the lower light woods. The T34/76 is targeted as it has quite a few units around it.

The shells come in quite accurately this time. As in the last game the German artillery is starting to count. Two Soviet sections and the T34 are suppressed by some good fire. One unfortunate section of Soviet troops is totally wiped out by an excellent shot. This will break the advance up yet again and maybe give the Panther a chance to reorganise itself.

Some real thinking going on here from both sides.

The German mortar has no orders but takes the opportunity to fire on the Soviet section closest to the central trenches - with no effect.

It is now the German offensive fire phase.

Now that's some niffty artillery. I was just thinking...next game, you should think of some hidden minefields! That'd be interesting!!!

Is that Whiterook the master of calling in artillery or what. I call in arty and I get a couple of sprinkles, let Em call it in and it pours like hell!

Orders sent in Dave let me know if you didn't recieve them, I tried sending multiple posts and don't know if I did it right. For all I know Tom now has a detailed plan on whats about to happen.
