The Russians contesting the town looks like a forgone conclusion to me (winning is another thing) as the German troops and artillery really haven't performed all that well until this turn. The horde is still mostly intact as far as infantry goes so it is getting interesting.

German offensive fire phase.

This is probably an important time so good luck to both sides.

A HMG in the town opens up on the recce vehicle - a wipe out ! The recce vehicle is kaput.

The Ostwind behind the JagdPanzer fires at Russian troops next to the turretless T34 - no effect.

Blam - The JagdPanzer IV has a shot at the T34/85 cresting the trench at the top woods - A masiive shot that tears through the front armour of the T34. The crew bales but the tank does not burn for a change - either way it is finished.

KerBlam! - We know what that one was. The KV crew had an inkling of this and it's a gift they won't gracefully accept - the 88 shell doesn't worry about knocking, it just barges in anyway and distributes itself evenly about the interior of the KV. Another Soviet tank gone up to the JagdPanther.

The German infantry in the remaining trench fires at the one oncoming Russian section - no effect.

Once again the tanks have fired well but the infantry have not. Soviet infantry strength is still excellent even though the tanks are faltering. Tanks can't take the town though so the Germans still have a huge problem.

It is now the German movement phase.

Orders sent in Dave let me know if you didn't recieve them, I tried sending multiple posts and don't know if I did it right. For all I know Tom now has a detailed plan on whats about to happen.

About what I figured except that HMG killing my recon that is, ya, rather nasty, So the HMG is that "good" for minimally armoured vehicles? HHMMM, or one of those perfect rolls maybe?? I know in FoW, it is pretty hard to do that kill........ oh well, that's War I guess.

Ahhh good, Tom is falling into our perfectly prepared trap.

Have to admit though that Col. Z has some pretty stout boys in his infantry sections.

It's a very, very, very HMG CoZ!!

Have to say the HMG was a good shot and aided just enough by the ambush bonus.

German movement is complete.

It is now the Russian defensive fire phase. Note also that the Panther has reordered and is now on overwatch meaning it can fire at any Soviet unit which fires.
