Re: Next battlefront game
It isn't the direct line of sight thing with the mortars, they are just really bad so far. Still, things will change along the line I'm sure.
Come to think of it, the German artillery hasn't been exactly brilliant either, although they have only had the one turn. |

Re: Next battlefront game
Yeah I know.....
Russian Movement Phase. No mucking around here from the Russian command. Why bother firing when you can simply overwhelm with numbers. The troops and tanks at the top move towards the heavy woods for cover. The troops in the centre do the same while the SU's turn and drive straight into the PAK 40 along with the T34/76 and the lower company of infantry. They find the PAK is not alone. Another section of Grenadiers is riding shotgun for the PAK - or in this case Machine gun. Some of the troops in the centre are stuck in position whilst reordering and cause a bit of a traffic jam. The German units at the bottom of the table fire away..... The PAK fires at the SU-100 as the best target. The PZ Grenadiers fire at the infantry section to their front. A suppression an the SU-100 is the best they can do. Close combat. This doesn't look good for the Germans. The PAK 40 is crushed beneath the tracks of the 85 as the Panzer Grenadiers roll the worst number I have ever seen in close combat against a perfect score for the Russians and leave the board. Both units eliminated with no loss to the Russians. To be expected I suppose considering the number of units against them. It is now the German defensive fire phase. |

Re: Next battlefront game
German Defensive Fire Phase.
The German units are for the main part keeping their heads down but one unit has a shot at the SU-100. Blam!! Not a KerBlam but still blam enough to fully disorder the SU-100. Another suspected target in the lower light woods in front of the town. Other than that, all quiet on the Eastern front. It is now the German turn - artillery first as usual followed by offensive fire. |

Re: Next battlefront game
German artillery phase.
Shells scream down into the lower light woods where the SU's have just over run the PAK 40. he infantry units cower as fragments of metal and wood whistle around. One suppression and one disorder result. The Russian advance is slowed yet again. Plenty of time yet or is there ? It is now the German offensive fire phase followed by movement. This artillery firing by both sides is shocking so far. Sorry about that. |

Re: Next battlefront game
TRDG has asked a question worth posting on so everyone knows.
The question was how could the SU-100 be shot at when the SU-85 is in the way. These rules are a lot different to most as the models don't represent single vehicles. That' s the bit I had trouble wrapping my head around for a while. As that is the case the model shows the area that a particular unit has reached rather than it's exact position. Infantry is the same. What this means is that you can see past other units quite easily. Firing can go as follows. Vehicles and guns can fire through other vehicles and guns at a target. Vehicles and guns can fire through troops at another vehicle or gun. You cannot fire through troops at other troops so putting units directly behind each other isn't good. Hope that explains things ok. |

Re: Next battlefront game
German Offensive Fire phase.
The lower woods suspected target takes another shot at the SU-100 but causes no further damage. That's all the firing over for the Germans (must be saving ammo for something special). The movement phase is complete as well so it is now the Russian Defensive Fire phase. |

Russian DF orders sent out, I should have figured on that specific line of site, as FoW has that and MORE to........ Not a problem, I beleave it has the "time" involved in the move, so at one point or another the shooter may have had a line of sight while the Russians were moving in their time frame. But with using "stages" to portray movement and fire and DF, that is the way it goes, at least BattleFront thinks so anyways!!
