COUGH COUGH.........I tink one of us have to win this battle first (remember the bet guys??)!!, then he decides where we should go from there. But if Dave wants to put up some ideas here (list) in the mean time, go for it so we can get some ideas on what he can set up in the future. For me, just an idea now, I might like to see that campaign idea of taking thse units, getting an experience bump and running a next battle on the Eastern front.
Cheers, But I have to win this one first, I hope so anyways, German house fighting can be tough I think!! ![]() Tom |

Re: Next battlefront game
Either front is fine with me. I think we can probably use a good method for unit availability depending on how you go in each game. There is one way which means even if you win you may not have the resources you want next time if you expended to many in the last game. This is done on the basis of points where losses are taken into account as well as objectives gained. That stops anyone from getting to the point where they can't lose. Points also allows you to have a choice of units before the game. For example, you may 'buy' one company of veteran troops where someone else would buy one and a half of standards, or you may buy the biggest, meanest tank you can get your hands on where the opposition may go for three mid range vehicles. Artillery and aircraft come into this as well. What do you think ?
(Russian move by the way - artillery first). |

I think if we go down that route, we might want to start out with faily even forces for both sides, that could be critical I think. Maybe a big "map" with battle points for each battle maybe? Then the extra training for wins and surviving units as well for BOTH sides. HHHMMM, battle is'nt going so good? Then withdraw, but you lose experience for the troops, but reatain more as not KIA or broken. Broken units (or routed) might go down in training to represent fresh replacements.........
Cheers, what do you think guys? ![]() Tom Arty orders are in, the rest Thursday night after work!! Co Zhukov |

Re: Next battlefront game
That's the kind of thing I was thinking of with a big bonus if you do win though and a choice or two for replacements once you know the next scenario and what you can choose from.
In the meantime, the Russian artillery commander after his last two attempts and Zhukov's threat to make sure his next position would be in the Vienna Boys Choir, is more nervous than Colonel Sanders at a Militant Chicken convention. Can he get it right this time ? Oops......... Zhukov receives a call from the artillery commander to ask if he knows when Vienna will be taken so he can make travel arrangements. It is now time for Russian offensive fire (after the offensive language concerning the artillery commander), followed by the critical movement phase. |

Re: Next battlefront game
The Russians surge on!!
Troops move forward past the middle woods with plenty more coming up behind. The recce team moves along the bottom of the board and sights two suspected units - all is revealed. Two big cats, each a slightly different breed of the Panther variety. A T34 comes forward with the SU-85 towards the Panther. In the centre another T34 with infantry straining to keep up rolls down the track between the woods. Above the top heavy woods infantry and another T34 come forward and find entrenched Panzer Grenadiers blocking their way. Other Russian units that need to have reordered well and are on the move. Will the Germans have enough to hold the horde back or are they going to be steamrolled ? We will find out in the next phase - German Defensive Fire. |

Re: Next battlefront game
German Defensive Fire Phase.
How's that for rapid response. Here we go then. Another Blam comes from the light woods. his time the light woods at the top of the map though. The T34 commander in the middle cringes as the shell rips across his hull. A disorder from a now visible JagdPanzer L/70. A KerBlam!! from the middle light woods is the last the SU-85 knows about anything as it brews up and the crew bails. The Panther joins in with a shot at the T34/76 following the SU and suppresses it. Meanwhile, at the top woods, the Panzer Grenadiers in the entrenchment let loose on the Russian infantry. The surprise of them surging around the woods must have put the grenadiers aim off as they fire for no result. It is now the Russian Defensive Fire phase. Revenge is a dish best served with hot 85mm shells...... |
