Re: Women of the Reich

I can imagine this to be the German concept of the USO.

Now, this is strange. Two photos from two different sources. That is the same bridge, and honestly think its the same group. I can match at least two women and one of the officers.

If so than the second photo must have been taken before they poured the schnapps.
That second photo was found on the BundesArchiv site. I did some more digging there tonight and guess what...

The same group!!!

I wish I knew who these people were.
These aren't the kind of girls you want to take home to Mama, these are female KZ staff and the SS officers are Camp Officials one may even be Mengele. There is a site on the internet dealing with these people with some of the same pictures. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Re: Women of the Reich

Here's the link I eluded to, my rig here at work will not let me view it but it speaks for itself.

Auschwitz through the lens of the SS: Photos of Nazi leadership at the camp

Took some doing to find this again, but in doing so I found that calling these women SS is a bit erronous. While they worked for the SS, they were never members. The SS only admitted men into their ranks. That being said, apparently there may have been some exceptions to the rule, however, not many.

At a train station late in the war, a women's relief auxiliary hands out gift parcels to young Waffen SS troops leaving for the front...

These guys are young! Would they possibly be members of the 12th SS Panzer Division?

My thoughts also.
Look at the expressions on the women's faces. Late in the War, these were wives, mothers, sisters, that obviously have sent others on before.

Great pics
