Re: Women in the Soviet Air Force

The most amazing fact I have studied about this is how the Russian Army used females as Snipers. The females were more patient than the males, and relied on training to do exactly as was taught, instead of "winging" it because of machismo. Also, the females did not hold grudges, nor did they risk themselves to get revenge for the death of a fallen comrade. They were not out there for personal glory. They were there to be a part of the team. This is what made them suited for the role. Many earned some of the highest medals Russia had to bestow. Makes you wonder huh? The thing about today's militaries are that sex is more prevalent and open now than 60 years ago. Men view the women more as sex objects now and less as equals as soldiers. I have served 21 years in the Army (and am still on active duty). I know a thing or two about this, since I have seen it first hand for over two decades in uniform.

The female snipers were far more nimble, too. A fact that they used to great advantage. Their stature made up for in ability to achieve stealth, over their supposed lack of brute strength.
