Whoohoo! Pin-up girls!

No discussion of the women of World War II would complete without a photo thread dedicated to the more aesthetically pleasing of our sex. Without futher delay, here's Rita Hayworth to kick things off!

Re: Whoohoo! Pin-up girls!

Glad you like guys! Its not really my thing, so research has been slow moving. I thought there would be some really cool website that tracked the history of the pin-up girl and could pinch some pics and history, but no.

Heather,

Things may have been different in the 1940's but beauty was beauty. Pin-up girls helped morale and a happier soldier or sailor is going to a better one. That also was as true then as it is now.

Re: Whoohoo! Pin-up girls!

I agree Jim! As kid watching WWII flicks, I enjoyed the moments about the pin-ups girls in the movies becuase it always generated so much enthusiasm and happiness among the characters! On that note....

I don't know who Veronica Lake is, but she's a sure bet to improve morale anywhere!

All I know is that she was an actress. I don't even know if she was any good!

Love pin ups. I have an extensive collection of Vargas, McPhearson, Rust, etc. alas, most are not appropriate for posting.

Veronica Lake was extremely popular in the fourty's n' she did a couple of movies that managed to make her an icon amoung both men n' women in the US.
