I think this one might have been a post card, which in my opinion is still a historical work of art pertaining to the time. Nice one Bill. Very touching.
I think it was a post card too. I have seen a statue of it around somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

Untitled-George Grosz

A very dark and disturbing post war line drawing by George Grosz, 1936.
A severely crippled war veteran trying to sell wilted flowers to indifferent passersby.

A fate suffered by many who had survived the trenches.

I've seen a similar thing in real life back in 1980. It was an old disabled Italian warveteran that sat pretty much like this n' begged in the street. Touchin'.

A night battle. A German trench at the Aisne, September 1914.

That is very sad.

Soldiers men are often judged on how they serve their country. Countries should be judged on how they serve their veterans.

Re: Art & The Great War

That Paul brings to mind the photo posted somewhere on the Zone that shows a military parade on 4th of July n' the only one standin' is an old warveteran in a wheelchair.

I doubt that we'll find a country that treats their warveterans as good as they should.

Nobody loves a soldier until the enemy is at the gates.
