WW1 Camouflage

Camouflage, while not invented in World War One, did make some dramatic evolution in the Great War. Here an example of naval camo, the aircraft carrier HMS Sargus. Naval camouflage was often very intricate and colorful.

Re: WW1 Camouflage

The French cruiser Gloire. This camo scheme, known as "Razzle Dazzle" was developed by the British in an attempt to confuse U Boat crews as to the ship's course.

Re: WW1 Camouflage

I had some good photos of some very cool German raider and stormtrooper helmet camo. Most are a razzle dazzle pattern. I think its very cool and inspired me here:

If I can find those I'll post them.

Re: WW1 Camouflage

Waffles: Mainly because most camo was designed for Trench Raiders, teh gents who would painstakingly cross No Man's all night long inch by inch to get within range to either sneak into the enemy or surprise raid them. All those colors are really dark in the dark and ironically at least when there's not much light or flares, it does do well to break apart the outline of the human head. Red especially will go to a very dark color in the darkness.
