Re: My library - you rate it!

I'm jealous of your library. Is that like a life time of collecting?
Anyway, it is a great collection.

Could you give me your opinion on the following books and are they worth buying?

Uniforms of the SS vol 1: Allgemeine SS 1923-1945 – Andrew Mollo Windrow & Greene (91)
Uniforms of the SS vol 2: Germanische SS 1940-1945 – Andrew Mollo Windrow & Greene (91)
Uniforms of the SS vol 3: SS Verfugungstruppe 1033-1939 – Andrew Mollo Windrow & Greene (91)
Uniforms of the SS vol 4: SS Totenkopfverbände 1933-1945 – Andrew Mollo Windrow & Greene (91)
Uniforms of the SS vol 5: Sicherheitsdients und Sicherheitspolizei1931-1945 – Andrew Mollo W & G (91)
Uniforms of the SS vol 6: Waffen SS Clothing & Equipment-1945 – Andrew Mollo Windrow & Greene (91)

- Cheers, Hayden

Re: My library - you rate it!

I've got all those six, there was a seventh in the series, awards and decorations, which the guy refused to give me - the bastard! However, I believe the original series is prohibitively expensive to buy singularly, I paid over $200 for those six volumes years ago, but now I think you can buy all of them in one volume for way less, check Amazon, I think that's where I saw it advertised. As I was saying in 'My military dvd collection' thread, my cheapskate ways paid off again last weekend! Check this out! I was doing a job down at Mona Vale beach, and there was a book sale next door to the customers house, all brand new, look what I got for a grand total of $32!!!

Battlezone Normandy: Battle For Cherbourg - RP W Havers -$4.50
Hitler's Atlantic Wall - Anthony Saunders - $3.00
Hitler's Warriors - Guido Knopp - $4.50
Jackboot: The Story Of The German Soldier - John Laffin - $1.50
Night Fighters: A Development & Combat History - Bill Gunston - $9.00
Pillars Of Fire: The Battle Of Messiners Ridge June 1917 - Ian Passingham - $3.50
The Price Of Disobedience: The Battle Of The River Plate Reconsidered - Eric J Grove - $4.50
Tirpitz: Hunting The Beast - John Sweetman - $1.50

I wasn't going to buy any more books, I'm concentrating on medals and lunchboxes, and they are going to go on the 'to read' pile, which is growing ever higher, but hey, for $32 I couldn't say no!

Re: My library - you rate it!

I just had a quick check on Amazon, wow! I have the original series (minus vol.7) from the 70's, it quickly sold out, and was reprinted in single volumes in the 90s (1994 I think) and again, quickly sold out. There are some single volumes for sale on Amazon ranging from about $30US up to $94US each! Search by title or author, Andrew Mollo has written some great books on the SS and W-SS, some are available quite cheap, his excellent Pictorial History of the SS is in there for a good price. Or try ebay on world-wide option search, not just ebay.au and see what happens, or keep it on permanent search. But definately try and find the single volume, waaaaay cheaper!
